Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Quote Legends ("Quote Legends," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the website located at quotelegends.com, together with all content, features, and services offered on or through it (collectively, the "Service").
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.
Description of Service
Quote Legends is a curated collection of quotations presented as visual artwork, along with related content, features, and — where offered — products available for purchase. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, temporarily or permanently, at any time and without liability to you.
Accounts
If the Service allows you to create an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information;
- Maintain and promptly update that information;
- Maintain the confidentiality of your password and account credentials; and
- Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.
You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to safeguard your account credentials.
License to Use the Service
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and make personal, non-commercial use of the Service. This license does not include, and you may not:
- Modify, copy, or create derivative works from any part of the Service;
- Use any content from the Service for any commercial purpose or public display without our prior written consent;
- Attempt to decompile, reverse engineer, or extract the source code of any software associated with the Service;
- Use any automated system, including "bots," scrapers, or data-mining tools, to access the Service;
- Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice; or
- Reproduce, duplicate, sell, resell, or otherwise exploit any portion of the Service for any commercial purpose without our express written consent.
You further agree not to copy, imitate, or reproduce the visual design, layout, or overall look and feel of the Service without our prior written consent.
This license terminates automatically if you violate any of these restrictions, and we may terminate it at any time in our discretion.
Intellectual Property Rights
The quotations displayed on the Service are drawn from the historical and public record. Quote Legends does not claim ownership of the underlying words, ideas, or quotations themselves, except where a specific quotation is independently protected by copyright held by a third party and used under license.
Quote Legends does own the original visual artwork, designs, layouts, graphics, and presentations created to display each quotation, as well as the compilation, selection, coordination, and arrangement of content on the Service, all of which are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws and are the exclusive property of Quote Legends or its licensors.
All trademarks, service marks, logos, and trade names displayed on the Service ("Marks") are proprietary to Quote Legends or their respective owners. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use any Mark without our prior written permission.
Copyright Complaints
Quote Legends respects the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe that material on the Service — including a piece of original artwork — infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to us through our Contact Us page or to support@quotelegends.com, including:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed;
- The specific location of the material on the Service;
- Your contact information;
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information provided is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
We will investigate all good-faith notices promptly and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to the material in question.
Content and Curation
Quote Legends curates its collection according to editorial standards described in the Quote Legends Codex. The inclusion of a quotation on the Service is not an endorsement of every belief, action, or aspect of the featured individual's life; it reflects a judgment that a specific expression of wisdom has earned its place in the collection.
Quotations from living individuals are treated with the same editorial care as historical figures. Quote Legends will consider a request from the speaker, or their authorized representative, to correct or remove a quotation attributed to them.
The Service is intended for inspiration and reflection, and is not a substitute for academic or scholarly research. For citation or research purposes, we recommend consulting primary sources and peer-reviewed publications.
User Content and Conduct
The Service may allow you to save quotations, rate content, submit comments, or otherwise interact with the platform ("User Interactions"). By engaging in User Interactions, you agree not to:
- Post or transmit any content that is unlawful, threatening, defamatory, abusive, harassing, or obscene;
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity;
- Interfere with, disrupt, or place undue burden on the Service or the servers and networks connected to it;
- Use the Service for any unlawful or unauthorized purpose; or
- Infringe the intellectual property or other rights of any third party.
We reserve the right, but assume no obligation, to monitor, remove, or refuse any User Interaction that we believe violates these Terms.
User Submissions
Quote Legends may allow you to submit quotation suggestions for our consideration, including the quotation, its attribution, and any supporting source ("Submissions"). By making a Submission, you:
- Grant Quote Legends a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to review, reproduce, and use your Submission for the purpose of evaluating it for inclusion in the collection;
- Acknowledge that we are under no obligation to feature, publish, credit, or respond to any Submission;
- Represent that you have the right to submit the material and that, to your knowledge, the attribution you provide is accurate; and
- Understand that all curatorial decisions — including whether a Submission is verified, translated, contextualized, or ultimately featured — are made solely by Quote Legends in accordance with our editorial standards.
We do not pay for Submissions. If a Submission you provide is featured on the Service, the accompanying artwork remains our original work under Section 6 (Intellectual Property Rights).
Purchases and Payments
If the Service offers products or services for purchase, the following applies:
- You represent and warrant that any payment information you provide is accurate and that you are authorized to use the payment method provided;
- All prices are subject to change without notice, and we reserve the right to correct any pricing errors;
- We reserve the right to refuse, limit, or cancel any order, at any time, for any reason, including suspected fraud, errors in pricing or product description, or unavailability of a product; and
- Except as required by applicable law or stated in a separate refund policy, all sales are final.
Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by Quote Legends. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services. You access any third-party links entirely at your own risk.
Disclaimers
Quote Legends does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, timely, or error-free, or that any content is accurate, complete, or current. Historical quotations may be subject to disputed attribution, translation, or interpretation; our approach to verification and translation is described in the Quote Legends Codex.
Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Quote Legends' total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the Service exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to Quote Legends, if any, in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred Canadian dollars (CAD $100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Quote Legends and its owner from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including Intellectual Property Rights, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, and Indemnification — shall survive.
Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time, at our sole discretion. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other legal notices published by us on the Service, constitute the entire agreement between you and Quote Legends regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
